China Shipping Group was founded on July 1, 1997 in Shanghai. It is one of the key state-owned enterprises under the direct administration of the Central Government and is a super-large shipping conglomerate that operates across different regions and countries.

Under its umbrella, there are five specialized shipping fleets of oil tankers, tramps, passenger ships, container vessels and special cargo ships, which comprise of over 440 vessels with an aggregated deadweight of 15 million tones and an annual traffic volume of over 270 million tonnes. Universal Shipping Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Shipping Group, is a professional container feeder company engaged in the foreign trade transportation in Pearl River Delta area, coastal regions in South China and Beibu Gulf. The company is authorized to be the sole feedercarrier for China Shipping Container Lines.

Universal shipping has established a perfect feeder transportation network with high efficiency and low cost covering the areas of Pearl River Delta and the coastal regions in South China. As a result, Universal Shipping has become the only one able to provide regular liner service to all ports and points in the region.
